Chance has come a long way in the past 10 1/2 months. He’s traveled near and far, is very teachable, has mastered many tasks already, and is well on his way to becoming an amazing service dog for someone in need. Today he started the next phase in his journey as I left him at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville. The offenders in this prison have been instrumental in helping these dogs reach their potential, and while it always hurts to turn them over, I’m so happy he is going to be participating in this wonderful program. Jose, his new handler, does an amazing job, and I couldn’t think of a better option for Chance. He’s a very special pup and I couldn’t love him more.
